After rebuking the priests for their sin of hypocrisy (Matthew 21:34), Jesus shares a parable about Israel’s religious leaders. In this story, they are like the tenants who mistreated the vineyard owner’s servants and killed his son.
Jesus explains that they will also be destroyed by God. And so, the kingdom of God will be given to other people who respect life and produce fruit.
