In the Book of Jonah, we encounter a powerful story of repentance and God’s boundless mercy. Jonah, a prophet of God, is called to go to the city of Nineveh and deliver a message of impending judgment. However, Jonah initially resists God’s call and flees in the opposite direction. He boards a ship, but a great storm arises, and Jonah is thrown overboard and swallowed by a large fish. After spending three days and nights in the belly of the fish, Jonah repents and prays to God for deliverance. God hears Jonah’s prayer and commands the fish to vomit him onto dry land.
Now, in Jonah 3:1-10, we witness the second chance God gives Jonah. The Lord again instructs Jonah to go to Nineveh and deliver His message. This time, Jonah obeys and proclaims God’s warning to the people of Nineveh. Astonishingly, the entire city, from the greatest to the least, responds with genuine repentance. Let us now turn to Jonah 3:1-10 to hear this remarkable account.
